UNISOC: MWC2022 enables us to connect the world from the present towards the future.

2022-03-03 Digital Journal

MWC2022, one of the important events in the domain of science and technology communication, will be held in Barcelona from February 28 to March 3. Themed with "Connectivity Unleashed", MWC2022 mainly focuses on many aspects such as 5G, cloud, AI and IoE, displays the latest achievement in the mobile communication industry, and discusses the path-forward for future technical development.

The fundamental goal of the scientific and technological development is to serve mankind and enable a better livehood for people. For instance, aircraft, automobiles and other means of transportation can help us solve the problem of long-distance migration, and the medical development enables us to fight against diseases. While the development of communication industry empowers us to achieve the information transmission and connection among people themselves and between people and the world.

As one of the world's leading manufacturers of communication chips, the essential value that UNISOC cherishes the most is to enable connections. UNISOC is committed to providing intelligent services for both individuals and society. We firmly believe that science and technology should serve the broadest and largest number of people, especially those at the grass-roots level of society, and it is our aspiration to help them unlock and access the digital world.

  • Helping more people step into the world of mobile Internet

Based on the report released by WeAreSocial and Hootsuite, as of January, 2022, the global mobile phone user count stands at 5.31 billion, equivalent to 67.1% of the world’s total population. This means as of today, about 2.26 billion people around the world still do not have access to the mobile Internet.

UNISOC is always committed to helping more people gain access to smart terminals and connect with the world. Up to now, UNISOC products have been marketing in 128 countries and regions around the world, helping 400 million people access the mobile Internet via smart phones. Globally, there is one UNISOC chip in every four cellphones and one UNISOC chip in every 10 smart phones

In Africa, UNISOC has worked closely together with its partners and have developed the smart phones specifically for African users, as part of the effort to help Africa move towards the digital era; In India, UNISOC has enabled 25 million Indian consumers to gain access to the mobile Internet; In Thailand, UNISOC and Thai local brands jointly developed cellphones with mobile payment function to help millions of consumers enjoy the convenience brought by the service; In Indonesia, by on-line learning via tablet products, UNISOC helped 300,000 students make the remote online education possible.

In China, according to the latest data from the National Bureau of Statistics, there are 264 million people aged 60 and above, accounting for 18.7% of the country's total population, and 190 million people aged 65 and above, accounting for 13.5%. The development of science and technology has brought people a rich and colorful digital life, where various demands such as entertainment, travel, payment and shopping, can be addressed by cellphones. However, the rapid change of the world has also created some inconvenience to the elderly who are in general not capable of using smart phones to take care of their needs for clothing, food, housing and transportation. Under this context, how to help the elderly integrate into the mobile Internet world becomes a problem that UNISOC has always been keen to.

UNISOC has jointed hands with its partners and launched a variety of smart terminal products specifically for the elderly, including feature cellphones, smart phones and smart watches. Based on the strong capability in chip technology, UNISOC gives up the complex touch-screen design, and adopts the classic physical keys and buttons with large font, loud volume and large screen design to fully take the using habits of the elderly into consideration; Functions such as one-click call, precise positioning system, one-click SOS early warning and health monitoring, enable the majority of the elderly no longer to be kept out from the digital world.

  • Promoting sustainable development with connectivity

On the one hand, scientific and technological development helps mankind improve the quality of life, on the other hand, it has also caused a certain degree of damage to the environment on which we live in. Therefore, we have to think about how to strike a balance between scientific and technological development and environmental protection. Today, energy conservation and environmental protection, low-carbon economy and sustainable development has become a common topic in the world.

To address this particular issue, UNISOC has been actively making contribution to green travel, intelligent manufacturing and other industries conducive to sustainable development.

According to relevant research data, in 2019, China's carbon emission accounted for 29% of the world total carbon emission, including 9.8 billion tons of carbon emission from energy activities, equivalent to 87% of the total social output. In particular, China's carbon emission from transportation sector accounted for 15% of the country's terminal carbon emission, where the average annual growth rate of carbon emission has been above 5% in the past nine years. Green travel not only saves energy, improves energy efficiency, reduces pollution, but also benefits health. It is undoubtedly of great significance to decarbonization and sustainable development.

The number of two-wheeled electric bikes in China has exceeded 300 million with an annual increase of 30 million in sales volume. However, charging has then become a major bottleneck restricting the market development of two-wheeled electric bikes. As of now, there are mainly three types of public charging facilities available for two-wheeled electric bikes, namely charging pile, charging cabinet and battery swapping cabinet. The first two are both time and space-consuming with low utilization rate. The battery swapping cabinet adopts the on-demand business model, which not only reduces the cost of battery purchasing, but also saves time and is more convenient.

In the market of battery swapping cabinets for two-wheeled electric bikes in China, UNISOC takes up about 60% of the market share. Thanks to UNISOC 4G Cat. 1 chips, riders can quickly and conveniently query the location and details of the shared battery swapping cabinet stations, and complete the battery swapping, promoting the development of the industry for shared two-wheeled electric bikes.

In the industry of share bikes that is critical to the green travel, UNISOC has also made active exploration and in-depth deployment. Almost all shared bike operators in the market, such as Hellobike, Meituan, Didi and Didi Bike (Green Oranges), have begun to adopt UNISOC chips, through which the time-consuming operation for locking and unlocking has been reduced by more than 30% on average, and it can also bring users intelligent riding experience such as voice interaction, which increases the user loyalty for the shared two-wheeled electric bikes. At present, there are more than 2.5 million Hellobike two-wheeled bikes equipped with UNISOC chips.

In recent two years, with the exponential development of new energy vehicle market, charging pile has become an essential infrastructure. However, to achieve the intelligent management and application of charging pile, it is a prerequisite to make it have the ability of network connection. The intelligent charging piles equipped with UNISOC Cat.1 IoT chips enable the real-time reporting and collaborative management for working status of many charging piles. At present, customers including China Tower, SAIC Roewe and Star Charging have adopted the intelligent charging piles equipped with UNISOC chips.

In addition to the green travel, UNISOC has also cooperated with JD Logistics and created the "5G unmanned warehouse". Intelligent devices equipped with UNISOC 5G chips such as gateway and AGV logistics carts are utilized to achieve the unmanned management and operation of the entire process of commodity warehousing, storage, handling and sorting. Compared with the conventional methods, the commodity sorting efficiency is 8 times higher with a sorting accuracy up to 99.99%, the human efficiency is over 3 times higher, and the overall input cost is reduced by more than 60%.
